Indore: Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Mandsaur recovered 52 bags of poppy straw weighing 1031 kg from a truck in Sawan village on Manasa-Neemuch Road on Thursday.After receiving intelligence that a truck registered in Uttar Pradesh would be carrying poppy straw from Manasa to Rajasthan, following which a team was formed and sent to the spot to keep a strict surveillance on the suspected route. The truck was later intercepted near a temple in Neemuch. The truck was carrying bags of garlic as cover cargo.On questioning, the driver revealed that poppy straw was loaded in the truck under the cover cargo. The truck was then brought to the CBN office. The truck was thoroughly searched, and 52 bags of poppy straw weighing 1031 kg were recovered. The recovered poppy straw, the truck and cover cargo were seized, and one person has been apprehended under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act.In another operation, CBN Jaora seized nine bags of poppy straw weighing 189 and lanced poppy straw 152 kg from a field in Sailana on Wednesday.
