A Northampton County man was seriously injured when his pickup truck collided head-on with a dump truck during the Friday afternoon rush on Route 662 in Ruscombmanor Township, state police said.
Firefighters needed to use hydraulic equipment to remove Bradley A. Middagh, 27, of Pen Argyl from the wreckage following the crash about 5:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Memorial Highway, which is Route 662, troopers from the Reading station said.
Middagh was taken to Reading Hospital for unspecified injuries. Information on his medical condition wasn’t immediately available.
Troopers provided this account:
Middagh was southbound when he tried a left turn into a residential driveway. He turned into the path of a southbound dump truck, colliding head-on with the bigger truck.
After impact, the pickup truck flipped onto the driver’s side and spun, coming to rest in the southbound lane.
The dump truck veered off the right side of the road and sheared two mailboxes before returning to the northbound lane and stopping.
The dump truck driver, Ryan P. Kine Jr., 27, of Fleetwood, was evaluated by emergency medical personnel for possible injuries at the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital.
A car that was behind the dump truck stopped to avoid a collision but was struck by debris from the crash.
