MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — A truck driver is dead and mutiple other people are injured after an early morning crash involving a semi-truck that shut down a portion of I-75 in Monroe County.

Police tell us that around 4 a.m., a semi-truck was heading southbound on I-75 near South Otter Creek Road in Monroe County. That semi crossed over the median in a construction zone, hitting three vehicles in the northbound lanes. One of those vehicles hit by the semi caught on fire.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 47-year-old Belleville man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were hurt in the crash; two passengers in the cars hit suffered minor injuries and drove themselves to the hospital, and two drivers involved suffered minor injuries but refused transportation to the hospital.
Northbound and Southbound I-75 at South Otter Creek was closed to investigate this crash but has since been partially re-opened, per MDOT. MSP says that no construction workers were working in that area during the incident.
