Mohali: The police have arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 600 grams of opium from his possession. He was produced in the court here on Thursday and taken on police remand, said Derabassi SHO Ajitesh Kaushal.The accused has been identified as Bahadur Singh, a truck driver and a resident of Pandwala village, Derabassi.Kaushal said that a police team led by SI Satnam Singh was present during a check at Mubarakpur when they received information about a truck driver involved in smuggling opium. In a related case in Panchkula, the anti-narcotic cell caught a person with 150-gram opium from his possession. The accused, identified as Pradeep Singh, was caught from near railway crossing in Pinjore.
Mobile snatched in HallomajraChandigarh: Two unknown miscreants riding a bike sped away after snatching a mobile phone from a man at Hallomajra. In his complaint to police, Anuj, a resident of Hallomajra, reported that he was returning home on foot when two unknown accused riding a bike approached him from behind. “They snatched my mobile phone and fled from the spot. I then dialled 112. On receiving the information, cops from sector 31 police station reached the spot,” said the victim. The police is scanning CCTV cameras for clues.
