COLCHESTER — A Lisbon fuel truck driver was arrested in Colchester this week after his blood alcohol level tested at more than six times above the legal limit, state police say.
Joshua William Blanchette, 35, was charged with operating a commercial vehicle under the influence and reckless endangerment following his arrest, according to state police.
Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, police said, troopers received a call reporting an intoxicated man driving an oil delivery truck. According to police, the call was made by Blanchette’s employer, who had stopped the truck in the area of 220 Hebron Road and was waiting for troopers to arrive.
Police said they determined Blanchette was under the influence after putting him through field sobriety tests. According to police, the driver’s blood alcohol concentration registered more than six times above the legal limit for commercial motor vehicles (.04).
Police said the tank truck that Blanchette had been driving was carrying about 2,200 gallons of fuel oil.
Blanchette was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on July 18, police said.
