OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Below is a roundup of sentences handed down in federal court in the District of Nebraska as released by Acting U.S. Attorney Susan T. Lehr’s office on Jan. 17.
The public is reminded there is no parole in the federal system.
Tevin T. Randolph, 23, of Lincoln was sentenced to 16 months in prison followed by three years on supervised release for being a felon in possession of ammunition.
On May 21, 2023, police responded to a disturbance and reports of yelling, gun shots, and glass breaking at the apartment complex where Randolph lived. The dispute was between him and two women. Police found a live round of ammunition on the carpet in the doorway and proceeded to search Randolph’s residence, where they found a Glock magazine loaded with ammo and shell casings on the ground just outside the apartment.
The officers learned Randolph had an active warrant and was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammo due to prior convictions, which included assaulting an officer. Randolph pleaded guilty to his offense Oct. 19.
Johnny Bradford, 52, of Las Vegas, Nev., was sentenced to time served and will immediately begin a three-year term of supervised release and six months on house arrest for his involvement in an embezzlement scheme. He was also ordered to pay $112,257 in restitution.
Bradford was an employee of Roadrunner Transportation Systems located in Sarpy County, Neb. While employed, Bradford participated in a scheme led by one of Roadrunner’s dispatch managers, co-defendant Amy Sheperd. Between February 2018 and June 2019, Sheperd generated fraudulent driver advances and entered electronic check codes into the company’s accounting system, citing legitimate business purposes like truck repairs, washouts, or trailer unloading.
Bradford would then fill out the checks with the check codes he received from Sheperd and cash them. After Bradford received the funds from the cashed checks, he would use Western Union to send portions of the money back to Sheperd, who lived in Kansas.
Sheperd was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Nov. 30, 2023, for her role in the scheme.
