FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne man died two days after a truck crashed into his moped, according to the Allen County Coroner.
The victim was identified as 26-year-old Chandler James Mycroft.
Fort Wayne Police determined the truck rear-ended the moped Tuesday around 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of Coliseum Boulevard and Lake Avenue.
The coroner’s office was told Thursday that Mycroft died of his injuries. The coroner determined he died from multiple blunt impact injuries due to the crash, and his death was ruled an accident.
According to Allen Superior Court documents, 20-year-old Conner Mullins – the driver of the truck – took a breath test which showed he was twice the legal limit. He allegedly admitted to officers he had been drinking that night.
Mullins was charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, and operating while intoxicated causing endangerment.
The crash is still being investigated by the coroner’s office, FWPD and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
