Hong Kong police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected to have shot a truck driver in the head with airguns and seized another air weapon and two bags of BB pellets at his home.
Inspector Chan Kwan-to, of the Yau Tsim district crime squad, said the force was told the victim was approached by an unknown man wielding two airguns and “a long hard object” later used to strike the driver over the head.
“After the victim got out of the vehicle, he was immediately shot in the face by the assailant with the air guns,” Chan said.
“The victim managed to escape, but the attacker pursued him relentlessly, using a long hard object he was carrying to hit the victim’s head.”

The incident happened as the driver, 66, rested in his parked truck at Woosung Street in Yau Ma Tei at 5am on Wednesday.
A source familiar with the case said the injured man managed to escape and hid on the staircase of a tenement building on nearby Shanghai Street.
He asked for help at a nearby convenience store after the gunman had left the scene and staff called police.
The victim was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for treatment to bruises on his face and four cuts to his head.
The force said the injured man was in a stable condition in hospital.

Chan said officers found BB pellets on the ground and two weapons – an air pistol and an air rifle – believed to have been abandoned by the suspect.
They were unable to locate the object used to strike the truck driver over the head.
“The police reviewed surveillance camera footage and identified the suspect, arresting him in Yau Ma Tei later that same day,” Chan said.
Police searched the alleged attacker’s home in Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei and found another air rifle, two bags of BB pellets and two canisters of compressed gas used for air-powered weapons.
The force said the 47-year-old in custody had a history of mental illness and required medication. Officers added the motive behind the attack was still unclear.
Shooting or wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm is punishable by up to life in prison.
