Deputies: Man arrested after firing shots at truck driver during road rage shooting in Marion County

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Virginia truck driver after firing shots at another vehicle during a road rage shooting in Ocala last month. Deputies said the 44-year-old, Dylan Nissan Belleastin, was arrested for shooting a missile into a vehicle, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and displaying a firearm.According to the MCSO, deputies responded to a reported road rage incident located at 7791 NW 47th Ave., Ocala, on March 3.The report stated that Belleastin threw a water bottle at a truck driving southbound on Interstate 75 at the time of the incident.That’s when the victim pulled over to confront Belleastin, but decided to get back into the car and drive away.”What we determined happened is that one driver — the victim — maybe cut off or merged into to the point that where the defendant, the suspect, thought he cut him off,” said Lt. Paul Bloom from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Belleastin decided to follow the victim, pulled alongside the driver and fired several gunshots. Deputies say Belleastin narrowly missed but blew out the passenger window and hit the driver’s window. At some point, the truck driver who was getting shot at pulled out his own gun and started shooting at Belleastin, but when the scene ended, no one was hurt. The suspect drove away and continued southbound on I-75. “Very close to the driver, but remember a bullet will hit something, go through something then continue. There is northbound traffic in the opposite lane still traveling, and when these bullets were going and ended, fortunately did not hit another driver or this driver because as you can imagine, a gunshot wound to a semi driver — that’s not to end up well for anyone out of the highway,” Bloom said. Deputies were able to locate Belleastin and retrieved dash camera footage from Belleastin’s semitrailer cab.In the footage, deputies said it was clearly depicted when Belleastin shot at the victim two different times.
