An Omaha postal service driver says a man followed her for miles, got out of his truck and then threw an axe at her.
Diondra Weaver says she’s lucky the hatchet didn’t go through her open window. She drove away with her life and captured it all on video.
Weaver, a truck driver for USPS, says she was on I-80 Saturday when she says a truck driver thought she was driving too slow, got in front of her and brake-checked her.
“I still can’t believe it,” Weaver told KETV Newswatch 7.
Weaver said it happened in southwest Omaha at John Galt Boulevard and Q Street around 11:30 a.m.
She says he followed her off the highway and was tracking her.
“I’d try to get over to the right, he’d get to the right. I’d get over to left, he’d get to the left,” Weaver said. “As he’s doing this, I’m just holding the horn to gather attention to myself because he kept brake checking me.”
And a witness, hearing Weaver’s horn, caught it all on video.
Video shows the white truck driver make a U-turn, circling back to Weaver after she lets him drive off. You can see the man get out of his truck and throw an axe at Weaver’s truck.
Weaver says she found the axe in the street.
“I have my gloves on, so I’m going to pick it up just in case there’s some finger prints … I know there’s fingerprints cause he didn’t have any gloves on,” Weaver said in a video.
Now, she wants the man, whoever he is, to be held accountable.
“I hope that someone can recognize who he is and turn him in and that he gets some counseling as well as jail time. I don’t think you should be able to throw an axe at anyone,” Weaver said. “You don’t throw things. You don’t put your hands on people. You learn to control yourself.”
