A Kenner ice cream truck driver accused in a deadly crash that killed a 12-year-old boy was in court Wednesday, where he changed his plea. Mechaul Mansoor, 72, changed his plea to guilty on a charge of negligent homicide. A negligent homicide sentence carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, but can carry a sentence as low as probation. Mansoor had originally pleaded not guilty to the charges in connection with the crash. It took first responders about 40 minutes to pull him out. Both Fajardo and Mansoor were taken to an area hospital. After a few days in the hospital, Fajardo was declared brain dead. Investigators were able to rule out drugs, alcohol and medical emergencies as factors in the crash. Speeding was a possible factor, and investigators were working to determine if there was a medical mishap.
