Melvindale police
An angry man is accused of assaulting a garbage truck driver in Downriver community, demanding that she take his trash.
The incident occurred on the morning of Nov. 27 as the garbage truck driver was collecting trash in the 17500 block of Flint Street in Melvindale. In a Facebook post, Melvindale police state that she “was accosted by an irate man with a trashy attitude.”
According to police, the man approached the garbage truck and began yelling at the driver, stating “take my garbage b—-.” The man then opened the truck’s door, grabbed the driver by the arm and tried to pull her out of the truck.
When the driver of another garbage truck, who was following her yelled at the man, he let go and left the truck. Melvindale police checked the area and attempted to locate the man at a number of nearby houses, but were unable to find him.
The man is described as dark-skinned, with a medium to heavy-set build and facial hair.
