In Duanesburg, a logging truck operator risked his life, and possibly saved the lives of others, when he pulled in front of an SUV whose occupant had just shot a state trooper last week on Interstate 88. Trooper Richard Albert was shot by 32-year old Nelson Troche after Albert had pulled over the vehicle, which had been spotted going more than 100 mph. State Police said the logging truck driver blocked the SUV from leaving the scene. The suspect was then forced to flee on foot into nearby woods and later shot himself. Had the occupants of the SUV not been stopped from leaving the scene, it’s possible they could have endangered the lives of other motorists, police or anyone else they encountered. The truck driver could have been shot himself, but he took the risk anyway. And in doing so, was one of the heroes of this tragic event.
