HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An investigation is underway after a man was shot to death during a suspected robbery early Saturday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
This happened at a trucking business on Forest Acres Drive, which is off of East Mt Houston Road in northeast Harris County.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the victim as 46-year-old Hector Ruiz.
The sheriff’s office said Ruiz worked at the trucking business and it was common for employees to hang out there after work. During a dice game the workers regularly played, a group of young men approached them and demanded money. Ruiz was shot to death during the robbery.
The sheriff’s office described the suspects as young men driving a light-colored SUV. Investigators believe the dice game may have drawn the suspects to the location.
If you have any information about what happened, you’re asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers Houston at 713-222-8477.
