SO TODAY, HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE LAUNCHING A NEW PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THOSE IN NEED. IT’S CALLED THE MEDICATIONS FOR OPIOID USE DISORDER, OR MOUD PROGRAM. IT OFFERS CLINICAL SERVICES, MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING AND HEALTH SCREENINGS, ALL FOR PEOPLE COMMITTED TO REDUCING THEIR DEPENDANCE ON OPIOID DRUGS. THE PROGRAM IS ONLY OPEN TO ROCKINGHAM COUNTY RESIDENTS, WHO ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD. THE PARTICIPANTS CANNOT BE PREGNANT OR PLANNING TO BE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE PROGRAM WILL ACCEPT MEDICAID, MEDICARE AND A VARIETY OF PRIVATE INSURANCES, AS WELL AS A LIMITED NUMBER OF UNINSURED CLIENTS. Forsyth Tech will offer commercial driving license classes to combat truck driver shortage

Forsyth Technical Community College launched a new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program.According to the American Journal of Transportation, the shortage of licensed truck drivers is projected to increase to 160,000 by 2030. Students will be trained in defensive driving, range maneuvers, safety regulations, accident prevention, vehicle maintenance, trip planning, cargo handling, and size and weight regulations. Afterward, students will earn their CDL Class A license, enabling them to drive Class A vehicles on both interstate and intrastate routes.Classes for the CDL program will begin on July 22, 2024. Students can register now.
