Edward Overbey, age 88, passed away on Father’s Day, June 18th, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a man of kindness, selflessness, and love, whose legacy and impact will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Edward was born on January 8th, 1935, in Indiana, to his proud parents Myrtle and Robert Overbey. He joined the Air Force in 1952, while serving he was trained in a number of skills, from pilot to law enforcement. Following his military career, he spent time as a police officer in Illinois.
In later years, Edward started his own trucking company, where he poured his heart and soul into the business. His love for trucking stemmed from his own passion for traveling and exploring new places, which extended beyond his professional endeavors.
In his free time, Edward enjoyed spending time in nature, fishing, and hunting. He was yearning for adventure and loved discovering new destinations. He was also a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and brother, delighting in spending time with his family and cherishing every moment with them.
Edward is survived by his daughter Cheryl Quarles, (Lawrence Quarles) son Brian Overbey, (Ashley Schurman) Adopted daughters Judy Ratajczak (Larry Ratajczak) Mary Nimon (Rob Nimon) grandsons Bradley, Tylor, and Andrew. great-granddaughter Adrianne. His siblings Clarence, Bud, Viola, and Bernice. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Myrtle Overbey, his brothers Charles, Bill, Philip, and James, and sisters Helen and Katherine.
A celebration of Edward’s life will be held at a later date, where loved ones can come together and commemorate his life.
Edward’s passing is deeply felt by everyone he has left behind. Although his physical presence will be missed, his spirit will continue shining through the people he has touched throughout his life. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever be kept alive in the hearts and minds of his loved ones.
