POLAND — A Crooker dump truck veered off the road Tuesday morning to avoid road workers near the Spring Water Road/Route 122 and Verrill Road intersection, authorities said.
Sgt. Brian Smith of Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said the unnamed driver of the truck crested a hill and discovered they were bearing down on workers from Pratt and Son removing reflective stickers in the road. The driver swerved to avoid the workers and went off road.
The driver of the dump truck was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Smith said. No one else was hurt.
As of 2:20 p.m., crews were clearing the scene and traffic was not yet opened back up.
Detours around the scene are Lewiston Junction and Empire roads.
