And also, misuse of this law can lead to ‘extortionist network’ along with organised corruption,” the former Congress chief said. Kharge alleged the government has a strategy of creating PR propaganda and delivering nothing. “From BJP’s ‘acche din’ to ‘Amrit kaal’, the road to stalling India’s progress has only imaginary milestones,” he said in a post on X. Truckers across the country are on a three-day strike beginning Tuesday against the stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for rash and negligent driving.

Truckers in several states launched a protest against the “stringent provision” on Monday. As per the Chandigarh administration order, two-wheelers will be allowed a maximum of two litres of fuel per transaction and four-wheelers five litres. “In light of ongoing strike by drivers of fuel-tankers and restricted supply of petrol and diesel in UT Chandigarh, District Magistrate Chandigarh has imposed a temporary restriction on petrol/diesel sale at fuel stations in Chandigarh,” according to an official statement.

The All India Motor Transport Association — the umbrella body of truck operators — has so far not given a nationwide strike call and its representatives will be meeting home ministry officials to raise their concerns around BNS.
