OTSEGO COUNTY, MI – The driver of a garbage truck was killed Friday, July 19, when his truck left the road and struck a tree, state police said.
The victim was a 43-year-old Kalkaska man, police said.
The man was driving west on Schuss Lane near Conifer Trail, north of Perch Lakes in Otsego County’s Bagley Township, when the truck left the road and crashed into a tree.
State police found the victim unresponsive. Police administered CPR until paramedics reached the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital where he died.
State police said it is not known why the truck ran off the road. The state Department of Natural Resources, Otsego County EMS/Rescue and Otsego County Fire Department assisted at the scene.
