One person has died after a three-car crash that left a pickup truck crushed under a tractor-trailer on Interstate 495 in Massachusetts, state police said.According to a statement, troopers came upon the incident on the highway near mile marker 84 in Westford at approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday. They found a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that was stuck under the tractor-trailer. When Westford Fire and EMS crews arrived, they began attempting to free the driver of the pickup truck. The man, a 26-year-old from Lawrence, was determined to be dead at the scene, state police said.No other injuries were reported.Massachusetts State Police said the preliminary investigation found that a 2012 Volkswagen EOS was northbound in the right lane when it struck the right front of a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was northbound in the middle lane. “The tractor-trailer exited the left side of the roadway into the grassy median, then re-entered the road where it made contact with the Tacoma. The Toyota overturned and was overridden by the tractor-trailer,” troopers said. The crash remains under investigation.
