A commercial truck driver was cited by police after he damaged a covered bridge in Caledonia County.The Lyndonville Police Department said they received a complaint on Thursday morning that a yellow box truck had driven onto and damaged the Miller’s Run covered bridge.The vehicle and its driver, 23-year-old Sereign Diop of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, were located a short time later.Police said Diop was operating his truck after being placed out of service earlier in the day by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement & Safety.Related: 4-year-old makes sign to warn drivers about beloved covered bridgeHe was cited to appear in court in April for leaving the scene of an accident and also issued town ordinance violations for the truck being over the weight height limits of the bridge.Diop’s truck was hauled away following the incident.Police did not detail the extent of the damage to the bridge.The bridge has been damaged several times in the past by commercial vehicles.
