A Colorado woman who was convicted of dragging a tow truck driver to his death is back in police custody after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a broom, reports said.
Colorado Springs television station KKTV reported that Detra Farries is facing assault and harassment charges after she was accused of stabbing her boyfriend with a broom. Farries suspected he was looking at photos of other women on his phone.
Farries was previously incarcerated when she was found responsible for killing tow truck driver Allen Rose, 35, in 2011. She was released from prison in 2021.
Rose became entangled in his truck’s cables as he attempted to tow Farries’ illegally parked vehicle, the outlet reported. Farries jumped in her vehicle and drove away, dragging Rose and killing him.
Farries was found guilty of manslaughter and vehicular homicide and was released from prison in 2021, KKTV reported.
Now, she’s behind bars again after the Nov. 5 broom incident.
Farries allegedly hit her boyfriend “multiple times with both of her hands,” KKTV reported the arrest papers say.
“After Detra stopped hitting [the victim], she proceeded to pick up a broom that was located near the [garage] door and jabbed [the victim] in the stomach with the broomstick multiple times.”
