ALPENA — A Chevrolet Trax crashed into the strip mall on North Bagley Street on Thursday morning, leaving the interior and exterior walls of the building damaged.
Airbags were deployed in the single-vehicle crash, but no one was injured.
The damaged area is between the two stores, H&R Block and Edward Jones, but property owner Richard Hiser said there appears to be no structural damage.
He plans to repair and replace the damaged location.
“I’ll probably have to cut that whole piece out,” Hiser said as he pointed at the damaged front of the building. “So it’s not going to be a small job.”
Inside the H&R Block office, visible cracks are present in the wall and parts look caved in. The exterior shows pushed-in stone tiles on the lower part of the wall.
Two Alpena Police Department cruisers, an Alpena Township Fire Department fire truck, and an Alpena Fire Department ambulance were present on the scene.
Alpena police refused to provide any additional information on the crash.
