A California trucking company will cease operations in the coming weeks after decades in business.
Santa Maria, California-based refrigerated carrier Certified Freight Logistics (CFL) will shut its doors for good, the company recently announced.
A message on the CFL website reads:
“We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our employees, clients, and partners, past and present, for a wonderful 93 years in business.“
The website also lists a phone number for inquiries on truck and trailer sales.
According to the Pacific Coast Business Times, CFL will complete the wind down of operations on November 18, 2023. The outlet cites a “tightening labor market” as a reason for the company closure.
CFL employs 120 truck drivers and operates 112 trucks, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s SAFER website.
CFL has operated continuously since it was founded as the Arroyo Grande Truck Company in 1928, specializing in hauling fruit and vegetables.
The news of CFL’s closure comes on the heels of the news of the closure of digital freight brokerage Convoy. Convoy company leadership cited an “unprecedented freight market collapse” and “dramatic monetary tightening” over the past 18 months as reasons for the company closure.
