A Brooklyn bicyclist was killed four blocks from his home in a crash with a box truck driver, police said Thursday.
Emmanuel Patterson was pedaling west on Clarkson Ave. in East Flatbush at about 10 a.m. Wednesday when he was struck near Rogers Ave., witnesses told police.
The box truck driver was also heading west on Clarkson Ave. and attempting to make a right turn onto Rogers Ave. when he struck Patterson, 56.
Medics rushed Patterson to Kings County Hosptial, where he died. He was four blocks from his home when the crash occurred.
The 26-year-old man driving the box truck remained at the scene.
It was the second time Wednesday a box truck driver was involved in a fatal crash in the city.
About six and a half hours earlier, a moped rider died on the Upper East Side after slamming into a box truck, cops said.
The victim, who had a passenger seated behind him on the moped, was zipping down E. 94th St. against the flow of traffic about 3:30 a.m. when he crashed into the box truck as he turned onto Second Ave., cops said.
The box truck driver, who remained at the scene, had the right of way, police said.
The operator suffered a serious head injury and died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, cops said. His passenger only suffered minor injuries.
No criminal charges have been filed in either crash, police said.
The city has seen a whopping 73% jump in bicycle fatalities this year compared with last year, police said.
As of Wednesday, 26 bicyclists have died on city streets, compared with 15 fatalities by this time last year.
There have been 15 fatal crashes involving electric mopeds and bicycles so far this year, one fewer than last year, cops said.
