Bhopal: Bilkhiria police on Saturday early morning found a half-burnt mini-truck parked between Amjhara and Bawadia village, around 30metres away from the spot. One of his footwear was soaked in diesel. Bilkhiria police suspect that somebody took out diesel from the truck tank and set it ablaze.
It was not clear how the truck driver caught fire. There were signs which suggested that the driver ran while burning, police said. His clothes were stuck in the fence of an agricultural field. Police said they are investigating the case from all angles including that of murder and suicide.
SHO Bilkhiria BP Singh Bains said that the deceased Brajesh Sahu, 44, hailed from Mohangiri in Vidisha and resided in Mandideep along with his family for the past 14 years. Around two years back, he had purchased a used mini-truck from Vikram Yadav, a resident of Berasia. He used the truck to transport vegetables. Brijesh drove the truck himself and had not employed any helper.
SHO Bains said that on Friday night around 11pm, Brijesh returned from Indore with his family members where he had gone to attend a marriage function. His family members dropped him near Karond Mandi. He asked them to go to Mandideep while he had to go to Betul to load watermelon. Later, when his family members tried calling him, his phone was not reachable.
SHO Bains said that on Saturday morning police received that a half-burnt truck was found beside the road going towards Kankali Mata temple and Bangrasia. The driver’s half-burnt body was found lying around 30metre away from the truck. Police reached the spot and contacted the truck owner through the truck registration number. The truck owner Vikram Yadav told police that he had sold the truck to Brijesh Sahu. Police tried calling Brijesh’s number but when they could not contact him they contacted his family members and they reached the spot. They identified the body to be of Brijesh with the help of his footwear immersed in diesel. Police handed over the body to the family members after post-mortem and they took it to Vidisha to conduct his last rites.
SHO Bains said that the diesel tank of the truck was found open which suggested that somebody took out diesel from the tank and set the truck ablaze. It was not clear whether Brijesh was in the truck at that time. One of his chappals was burnt while another was found immersed in diesel which suggests that at the time of taking out the diesel he was out of the truck. Two empty liquor bottles were found at the spot.

They have also alleged that around 4-5 days back, he had a dispute with some people. His 2-3 instalments of truck loan were outstanding due to which a dispute took place between him and the truck owner Vikram.
