America’s 250th birthday will be this weekend. However, that doesn’t mean the party needs to end following Saturday’s festivities.
Truck drivers can keep the fun going by heading to the Walcott Truckers Jamboree.
The annual truck show at the Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott is scheduled for July 9-11.
The three-day show and celebration of truck drivers includes truck beauty contests, concerts, a pork chop cookout and the trucker Olympics. Last year’s Walcott Truckers Jamboree had an estimated attendance of 46,000.
Everything is free, including entry to the jamboree, parking and the concerts. There will be more than 175 exhibits at the show.
The schedule for Friday, July 10, features the 100th birthday party for the 1926 FWD, a heavy-duty four-wheel-drive work truck built by the Four Wheel Drive Auto Company. The 1926 FWD is currently on display at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum. Admission to the Museum is free, but donations are appreciated.
Later Friday, the country band Little Texas will perform a free concert on the show’s main stage. Little Texas is known for such hits as “God Blessed Texas” and “Amy’s Back in Austin.” The band was named Top Vocal Group of the Year by the Academy of Country Music Awards in 1993.

Expansion
Earlier this year, the Iowa 80 Truckstop announced a 25,000-square-foot expansion of the exhibit hall, where historic trucks and other trucking memorabilia will be housed.
Following the completion of this addition, Iowa 80 will feature 121,000 square feet of exhibit space. Construction is expected to be completed this fall.
According to the Iowa 80 Group, the trucking museum will remain open during construction.
