Volvo Trucks North America has issued a recall of 3,794 trucks because of a steering assembly problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The steering knuckles in the affected trucks may have been manufactured with insufficiently tightened steering arms, which can result in a loss of steering control, the NHTSA said.
The recall includes model-year 2026 Volvo VNL, VNR, VN, VAH and VHD units manufactured between Feb. 3 and July 24, 2025.
The NHTSA said dealers will inspect and tighten the fasteners between the steering arm and steering knuckle, as necessary, free of charge.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Sept. 7.

5 CMVs inspected; 4 placed out of service
One local police department on New York’s Long Island had a busy day recently.
The Garden City Police Department traffic enforcement unit conducted a truck inspection stop on July 10. Of the five commercial vehicles that were inspected, four were placed out of service.
In addition, three drivers were placed out of service. One vehicle was impounded, and 49 traffic tickets were issued.
PA cracks down on CDL mills
A bill aimed at shutting down unlicensed commercial driver’s license training schools has been signed into law in Pennsylvania.
Senate Transportation Committee Chair Sen. Judy Ward (R-Blair) saod Senate Bill 1294 was passed on July 20, which strengthens Pennsylvania’s oversight of commercial driver training schools.
The bill increases the penalty for operating a CDL training school without authorization from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
It increases the maximum civil penalty for operating an unauthorized CDL school from $2,500 to $25,000.
The passage of the bill comes as the federal government has stepped up its enforcement on CDL schools issuing fraudulent CDL and CDLP permits.
