SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) — CJ Logistics Corp., South Korea’s leading logistics company, said Wednesday it has appointed industry veteran Jonathan Song to head its global business division as part of efforts to become a top-tier player in the international market.
Song, who has over 30 years of experience in the global logistics industry, officially began his role Tuesday as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CJ Logistics’ Global Business division, the company said in a press release.
Over the past decade, Song played a key role in driving significant revenue and profit growth at U.S.-based logistics firm Expeditors International, earning a reputation as a top-tier sales strategist even within the highly developed U.S. logistics market, it said.
CJ Logistics said Song’s wide-ranging expertise and practical, market-based insights are expected to enhance its global logistics network — which spans 46 countries — and help it achieve its vision of becoming one of the world’s top 10 logistics providers.
“His leadership, combined with our vast international network and advanced logistics technologies, is expected to generate strong synergies and help realize that goal,” the company said.
In particular, his appointment is expected to bolster the company’s presence in key markets, such as the United States and India.
In the U.S., CJ Logistics is expanding its high-value cold chain operations by securing additional logistics centers in Georgia and Kansas while also constructing large-scale distribution centers in New Jersey and Illinois.
In India, the company is strengthening its logistics capabilities through multimodal transport services that integrate road and rail networks.
