ADUSA transportation truck drivers are looking to unionize for what they’re calling a “decline in working conditions.”A total of the 125 drivers working at transportation facilities in South Portland and Winthrop are hoping to join Teamsters Local Union 340.The union says drivers have seen a lack of “care” from the grocery chain and want things to return to the way they used to be.Once ADUSA, the transportation company of Hannaford’s parent company Ahold Delhaize and Teamsters, can reach a “stipulation,” an election can take place amongst the drivers.Aside from better health care, the union says a contract would give drivers more say in daily operations.”A key component when talking with all the employees over there is respect on the job, and really a seat at the table to discuss their working conditions, some of their woes that they’re going through, and they want their voice heard,” said Ed Marzano, Secretary and Treasurer of Teamsters Local Union No. 340.A spokesperson from ADUSA said in a statement:”We strongly believe our associates are our best ambassadors, and we strive to provide them with a positive and rewarding work experience where they are valued and respected.
