Search teams in Iowa are regrouping in their search for a missing semi-truck driver, after his truck was found abandoned on the highway, still full of the baby pigs he was transporting.
David Schultz, a husband and father, was last seen on November 21, outside Sac City in northwest Iowa. Hundreds of people have searched an area of more than 100,000 acres of adjacent land for the trucker.
“This is not something David would do,” his wife, Sarah, told the Sioux City Journal. “He would never leave. His family is his life.”
Schultz’s wallet and phone were found inside the truck, while his jacket was found close by, according to KKTV. The truck was turned off but not pulled over to the side of the road, the Sioux City Journal reported.
Adding to the mystery, the vehicle was recovered less than 10 miles from its destination but was facing northbound when it should’ve been southbound.
Though more than 250 people have joined the search efforts, there is still no sign of Schultz. United Cajun Navy, a nonprofit that organizes search groups, have taken over recovery efforts, according to KKTV.
The rescue is currently paused while the searchers strategize about what to do next, the United Cajun Navy announced on Facebook.
The incident is still under law enforcement investigation.
