Greg’s Bistro thanks customers, community 1 year after crash that injured 4
Last November, a truck crashed through the front of a Hampton restaurant, injuring four people, and on Sunday, the restaurant thanked their customers and the community for their unwavering support one year later.Terri Finn is a longtime customer of Greg’s Bistro in Hampton — a “Gregular,” as they call themselves. “It’s like we didn’t miss a beat now, thank goodness,” Finn said. She said the community they’ve built is truly special. “This is like our home away from home,” Finn said. “When people are sick, we’re there for them. When people are getting married, we’re there for them. I mean, a friend of ours recently got married, and we were going to have to shut down Greg’s because everybody in the place was invited.”“It was my wedding,” said Suzanne Callagy, another “Gregular.”They are there for each other through the good times and the bad. That’s why they came together Sunday to celebrate one year of strength, support and rebuilding after a truck came crashing through the front of the restaurant last November, injuring four people and forcing Greg’s to temporarily close.”That’s why we wanted to do this, this celebration of the community and the first responders and the people who were in the accident, who survived it,” said Jennifer Morin, bar manager. “Other restaurants in the town that stepped up, and just everybody kind of comes together in Hampton, and that’s really a special part of not just Greg’s, but Hampton itself,” Callagy said. Last year, Gregulars and bartenders converged at Britt’s Pizza while construction was underway at Greg’s.”I just want to thank the community for all the support they’ve given, opening their doors, giving people jobs when this was down,” Finn said. “It makes me emotional. It’s a pretty great place.”But now, they’re back — and looking ahead. “It has a new look but the same feel,” Morin said. “We’re so blessed – so blessed – and grateful and thankful to still be here together.”
