BATTLE CREEK, MI — Two semitruck drivers told police they were shot at while driving east on I-94 near Battle Creek on Wednesday night.
Battle Creek Police responded to calls from both drivers at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12. Both drivers reported they were shot at near mile marker 94, just prior to calling.
Both drivers told officers they had been traveling east, side by side, when an older-looking, black Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra standard cab, passed the semis on the right shoulder of the highway.
Once the vehicle passed, both semitruck drivers said they saw a person extend their arm out a window of the passing vehicle with a gun in their hand.
Both semi drivers told officers they then ducked, before hearing at least one gunshot. The two semi drivers then looked back up to see the suspect’s vehicle continue east on I-94.
There were no reported injuries during the incident, and no damage was found on either of the trucks or trailers during the investigation.
Police believe this is an isolated incident and the public is not in danger.
The Battle Creek Police Department is asking if anyone was in the area Wednesday at the time of the incident, or has information that would help police identify the suspect to contact the department at 269-966-3322, or anonymously through Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
