Violent: A city resident was taken into custody after he allegedly hit the mother of his child, Monday. Police filed a domestic violence charge against Elijah McGaughey, 22, 1238 Oregon Ave., after they found his girlfriend “very upset and crying and bleeding from the left side of her head.” She didn’t want to pursue charges herself but told police he’d “hit her in the head numerous times while she was in bed and had broken her cell phone,” all because he saw something on her phone he didn’t like and “became enraged.” Police found him in the basement.
Wheels off: A man told police an ex-employee threatened him and now the wheels are falling off his box truck, Monday. He said he was driving in Pennsylvania when the wheels came off because the lug nuts had been removed, and said he recently replaced three tires and was told by the shop where he had the repairs done they might have been slashed. He suspects the former employee because he’d threatened to harm to him and his family. Police were unable to determine if the damage to the box truck was “criminal in nature or from driving on rough terrain,” said the man told them he’d driven the van over the weekend with no problems.

Police said the man cut himself with the knife before fleeing on foot.

He said the man continued to scream at him until he entered the building and got help. A witness said he heard didn’t see the assault but did hear the man screaming. Another bystander reported seeing the assailant “dressed all in black with a bard and skull cap, acting highly agitated.”
Scuffle: Police were told a man took a swing at a woman during a disturbance in the vicinity of Sixth and Market streets before the two of them went their separate ways, Monday. The woman told police they’d been arguing over a credit card and when she left their residence the man followed her. During the ensuing argument she said he took a swing at her and she slapped him in the face. Neither of them wanted to pursue charges.
