A dump truck driver who allegedly impersonated his brother during a roadside inspection is now under investigation after being stopped with illegible dangerous goods placards during a Nov. 18 enforcement blitz in Burnaby, B.C.
The Lower Mainland Commercial Vehicle Enforcement group says the driver was prohibited from driving due to an earlier Burnaby RCMP impaired driving offence and provided his brother’s identity instead. The brother was sitting in the passenger seat at the time.
The investigation is ongoing, and the applicable charges will be forwarded when appropriate, according to a RCMP news release.

The planned operation saw officers inspect 40 commercial vehicles, placing 21 out of service. They identified 99 violations and issued 54 tickets.
“The number of trucks being placed out of service is still way too high and this particular driver now faces several potential charges, including impersonation and obstruction,” said Cst. Kevin Connolly with Burnaby RCMP’s Traffic Services. “We plan on continuing these types of initiatives all over the Lower Mainland, into the new year and beyond.”
