UPS plane crash leaves at least 7 dead
At least seven people were killed after a United Parcel Service cargo plane was involved in a “catastrophic crash” near Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport on Tuesday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said. The death toll is likely to grow, Beshear said late Tuesday. He added that first responders were on-site and “working hard to extinguish the fire and continue the investigation.” Video footage of the crash appeared to show the plane taking off with fire on one wing.
What a judge said about a Chicago ICE facility
A federal judge reviewing conditions at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview, Illinois, called detainees’ accounts of the facility “disturbing,” “disgusting” and “unconstitutional.” U.S. District Judge Robert W. Gettleman’s review comes in response to a lawsuit brought by detainees who said they were not allowed to contact attorneys, were coerced into signing deportation papers and were left in squalid conditions. “People sleeping shoulder to shoulder, next to overflowing toilets and human waste,” the judge said.
