An 18-wheeler-sized controversy struck an Ohio couple this April after they were told to leave the Baytown Buc-ee’s on their first visit to the Beaver-branded gas station. The reason being, Buc-ee’s does not allow semi-truck’s in its parking lots. Fellow truckers heard the news and shared their outrage at the mega gas station chain.
Dawn and Richard Thompson were in the Buc-ee’s for roughly 30 minutes with outfits in hand, when two employees asked them to leave because of their semi-truck. Dawn Thompson told MySA that trucks with large trailers were in the same parking lot, and questioned what made their semi-truck different from an RV.

The couple was standing in line and ready to pay for their items when they were reportedly escorted out of the Buc-ee’s.

“I would absolutely refuse to haul anything that had a Buc-ee’s name on it if I were hauling their goods, I can’t pull in there with my truck I’m not hauling your goods!” said Jimmy Bowen in the comments.
Carl Berger shared a story of when he used to deliver to the Texas gas station in his 18-wheeler, “When they first opened the one by us. I pulled in and a group of 4 or 5 employees came running out towards me. One had a radio saying he’s on the north side. It was like watching an out-of-shape seal team. I let all of them come across the parking lot before I told them I had a delivery.”
A majority of people were directing the couple to read the posted signs at each entrance of Buc-ee’s parking lot. But others were wondering why Buc-ee’s would have a problem with just the semi-truck without a trailer on their property.
“I don’t see why they would have an issue with just the truck. I do get not wanted the full rig due to space, but just the truck makes no sense. I love going to Buc-ee’s, but I think they are being unreasonable right now. People seem to be hating on truckers, just remember the next time you go there all the stuff you are buying is only because a trucker delivered it,” Amie Stansberry said in the comments.
There were a few truckers like Jaqueline Kulow who refuse to ever stop at the gas station because they don’t let truckers at the store. Kulow said, “As a fellow Texan and Truck driver this is the very reason I do not support Buc-ee’s!! Never will spend my money there.”
Buc-ee’s general counsel Jeff Nadalo said in a San Antonio Express-New report that Buc-ee’s driveways and parking lots aren’t designed to allow semi-trucks.
