UP truck driver beaten to death by lover’s in-laws, 2 arrested

A 32-year-old truck driver in Uttar Pradesh was beaten to death Tuesday by the in-laws of a married woman with whom he was in a relationship for the past three years, the police said.

The police have arrested two relatives of the woman’s husband, who is also a truck driver, in connection with the incident that took place at Kamalpur village in Moradabad district. Raids are being conducted to nab two others, said Sunil Kumar, the in-charge of Kundarki police station.

The police said that the post-mortem report of the deceased, Zeeshan Ahmed, has revealed multiple injuries on his body and he died due to severe injuries in the liver caused by the blows.

Karar, the younger brother of Zeeshan, alleged in his police complaint that the woman herself had called his brother at her house in Kamalpur to settle pending dues where an argument ensued and Zeeshan was beaten black and blue. He died during treatment at a local hospital.

The police said that the village panchayat convened a meeting last year after an intimate photograph of the couple went viral on social media groups. “Subsequently, the village head directed Zeeshan to maintain a distance from her. However, a few months later the couple started meeting again,” said an officer. The husband of the woman is also a truck driver who would be away for many days in a row

“The family members of Zeeshan got him married one year ago hoping that he would stop meeting the woman but their affair continued,” said an officer.
