
Teliamura, July 17: An attack on a truck driver near the Teliamura police station has left the community reeling. Late Tuesday night, 27-year-old Sudip Barua was viciously assaulted by a group of motorbike-riding miscreants near Teliamura Police station, raising serious concerns about night time safety in the area.
Sudip, a resident of Agartala, was returning from Silchar when he stopped for a meal near Chakmaghat. Upon resuming his journey, he encountered a group of miscreants who confronted him over vehicle lights. The altercation escalated, and Barua tried to escape by driving towards the Teliamura police station.
However, the attackers pursued him and caught up with him at the police station’s gate. They surrounded Barua’s truck, damaged the vehicle, and dragged him out. In a brutal display of violence, the miscreants assaulted Barua with sharp weapons, inflicting multiple injuries. Despite being close to the police station, no immediate help was forthcoming from the officers.
The attack left Sudip bloodied and in critical condition. He was eventually taken to the sub-divisional hospital for treatment after the attackers had fled. Local residents have raised concerns about their safety in the area and demanded immediate action by police.
