A truck driver was caught with 44 pounds of cocaine in his truck while being questioned about truck stop prostitution earlier this month.
The discovery was made at a Youngstown, Ohio truck stop on May 31st, and the truck driver was arrested on June 3rd. Truck driver Javier Eduardo Guiterrez-Quintana was indicted on Wednesday, June 26th.
According to WKBN News, police were conducting an investigation into possible prostitution at a Pilot truck stop located at 1150 N. Canfield Niles Road when they began questioning Guiterrez-Quintana.
As police were speaking with Guiterrez-Quintana, a police dog alerted to the possible presence of drugs inside of his truck. When asked if he had any drugs inside of the commercial vehicle, Guiterrez-Quintana told officers that he occasionally found strange bags inside of the truck, and gave his permission for officers to search it.
Upon inspection, officers found three duffel bags filled with 20 taped packages inside of the truck weighing in at 44 pounds. Guiterrez-Quintana was questioned and told investigators that he was transporting the drugs from El Paso, Texas to the Youngstown area, and was supposed to deliver them to someone whose name he did not know.
Guiterrez-Quintana is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, July 3rd before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carmen E. Henderson.
