FINDLAY, OH (WLIO) – A Findlay trucking company rallied the community to support the victims of Thursday’s tornadoes.
McGuire & Sons Trucking is working directly with emergency officials in Logan County to deliver donated items to the people who lost homes and property. They put out the call on social media, and Findlay residents came through with donations of much-needed items like batteries, plastic storage totes, and toys for the young children.
Organizers said that their immediate instinct when they saw reports of the destruction was to find a way to help, and it wasn’t difficult to get other Findlay area businesses on board.
“We were watching the radar pretty close because obviously Findlay was a threat; we saw we dodged a bullet here, a lot of the storms hit worse down south. So me and Eric Powell, the Chief Operations Officer here at McGuire and Sons, we decided to coordinate and put something together. We got with Ohio Logistics out of Findlay; they donated a trailer, and we got some great donations from American Plastic in Findlay, and the community’s really brought out a lot of stuff for us,” said Drew McGuire, owner of McGuire & Sons Trucking.
With the outpouring of donations, officials are requesting that, unless directly asked to do so, individuals do not travel to the Indian Lake area to bring more items at this time.
