DA declines to file charges against trooper who shot truck driver

Newly released dash cam video from OHP showed the moments the trooper pulled over the truck, which didn’t have a license plate. During the stop, the trooper asked the truck driver to come back to his patrol car for questioning. “Alright, only two violations,” said the trooper in the dashcam video. But during that questioning, OHP said the trooper suspected criminal activity. “Is there anything up there in that truck that there shouldn’t be?” asked the trooper in the video. “No sir,” Faudoa said. “Is there any marijuana?” asked the trooper. “No,” Faudoa said. “Any cocaine?” asked the trooper. “No, sir,” Faudoa said. “Any large amounts of money?” asked the trooper.”No,” Faudoa said. “May I search your truck?” asked the trooper. “For what reason?” asked Faudoa. “Because I think you’ve got something up there that shouldn’t be,” the trooper said. “I think there’s criminal activity.” When Faudoa declined to have the trooper search the truck, the trooper said he would call someone and try to get a canine out at the scene. He then called for extra help. That’s when Faudoa took off toward his truck. “Get on the ground! Get on the ground! I will shoot you if you get in that truck,” the trooper said. “Don’t shoot me! My hands are up!” Faudoa said. >> Download the KOCO 5 AppThe trooper then attempted to get Faudoa out of the truck before the trooper backed out and climbed back in. “Hands in the air! Hands in the air!” the trooper said. As Faudoa drove off, that’s when the trooper fired multiple rounds at him, killing Faudoa on the scene.
