A Lancaster County man is accused of shooting at a person in a box truck outside an airport in western Pennsylvania, then leading police on a chase.Tyler Mieczkowski, 22, of East Hempfield Township, is in prison in Westmoreland County.According to a criminal complaint, the box truck driver had made a delivery to a business at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Westmoreland County on Friday afternoon.He told police that he was in a parking lot when he heard a “pop” sound and looked up to see a gun pointed at him by someone in a Dodge Charger.The alleged shooter, later identified as Mieczkowski, then fired more shots before driving away.A trooper spotted the Charger and tried to pull it over, but the driver kept going.During the ensuing chase, law enforcement said they used spike strips to slow Mieczkowski.The vehicle eventually came to a stop after a trooper used a pit maneuver.Mieczkowski tried to run away, police said, but he was taken into custody.He is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, and recklessly endangering another person.Police said no one was hurt as a result of the shooting or the pursuit.According to investigators, the box truck had a bullet hole in the middle of the front windshield. The driver’s window was shot out, and the truck had bullet holes directly behind the driver’s side cab.
