Panchkula: A truck driver lost control of his vehicle during early hours of Wednesday and hit the main entry gate of Kali Mata Temple in Kalka, damaging pillars and wall of the building.
It also crushed two parked scooters outside the temple gate. The truck driver received injures and was admitted to Kalka civil hospital. The police have began a probe into the incident.
According to sources, police received a call on 112 emergency number from Homeguard Yogesh on duty at the entry gate of the temple at around 1.30am regarding the accident.Yogesh informed the cops that when he was on duty, a truck bearing registration number HP-12-P-7405 hit to the main entry gate of the temple and stopped after hitting the pillar. When he raised an alarm, other staff members on the temple premises rushed to the spot and they took out the injured truck driver from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the police rushed the injured driver to Kalka civil hospital where he was given medical treatment. Later, it was also found that two scooters parked near the entry gate of the temple were fully damaged in the mishap. On Wednesday morning, police officials, recorded the statement of the driver, who told the cops that he had lost control of the vehicle after brakes had stopped working.
Police officials, based on the complaint from the Kali Mata temple authorities, have booked the truck driver under sections 279 (rash driving on public way), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50 or more) of the IPC at Kalka police station and initiated investigation in the case.
Inspector Hari Ram, SHO Kalka police station, said, “Luckily, no person was present at the accident site and no loss to any life occurred. We have registered a case against the truck driver. The investigation is under progress.”

Anwar Ali, the prime accused in the 200-year-old Hindu temple arson case in Ratabari, sustained a bullet injury while trying to escape from the police. He was arrested in Tripura and during the interrogation, revealed that he had hidden a gun in a house. When the police took him to the house to recover the weapon, he attempted to flee and was shot by the police. He is now receiving treatment at the Karimganj civil hospital.
