A Standish company — expanding into Bay County’s Bangor Township — with a multi million dollar investment.
BAY COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – A plastics manufacturer based on Standish is expanding to a long vacant facility near Bay City with a $40 million investment that will create 93 jobs.
Vantage Plastics is bringing new business to a 325,000-square-foot building on Wilder Road in Bay County’s Bangor Township. The company recycles and produces large extruded plastic items.
The Michigan Department of Transportation provided a $336,000 grant to improve a half mile of Wilder Road between Patterson Road and Marquette Avenue into all-season standards to handle Vantage Plastics’ truck traffic.

The total project is estimated to cost about $480,000 with the remaining funding coming from the Bay County Road Commission.
“Improvements to Wilder Road are very important to this project as freight into and out of the facility is key to it operational efficiencies,” said Don Hale, who manages mergers and acquisitions at Vantage Plastics. “More importantly, widening the road will make it safer for all traffic, especially with the increase in truck traffic to support this project.”
The road commission did not announce a timeline for when the improvements to Wilder Road will begin.
