A truck driver who was injured when a good deed literally blew up in his face obtained a $4.5 million dollar settlement, according to his attorneys.
Tim Dollar and Jordan Dollar of Dollar Burns Becker & Hershewe said the 51-year-old man was driving a commercial motor vehicle in 2018 when he noticed another truck’s rear tire was on fire. He flagged down the driver, who hadn’t noticed the back tire in flames, and got the truck to pull over on the side of the road.
While attempting to assist in putting the fire out, the tire exploded directly into the man’s face, causing a traumatic brain injury, severe damage to his face and embedding hundreds or thousands of pieces of debris into the man’s eyes.
The man sued a company that allegedly had last inspected the tractor-trailer and the subject tire assembly, resulting in the settlement in February.
