ROLETTE, N.D. — A 30-year-old Fargo man was killed on Friday, Sept. 15, when a pickup he was driving collided with a semi-truck hauling grain on a rural road hear here.
Cody Walthius was driving a pickup eastbound on 89th Street Northeast when he failed to yield and struck a semi-truck that was southbound on County Road 15, Sgt. Michael Brown of the North Dakota Highway Patrol said on Saturday.
Walthius, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected as his pickup entered the west ditch, and was pronounced dead at the scene, Brown said.
The semi entered the east ditch and caught fire. The truck’s driver, Derrek Martin, 25, no address given, sustained serious injuries and was transported to SMP Health – St. Kateri in Rolla.
The accident remains under investigation, Brown said.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
