ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz, a Mid-Atlantic gas, restaurant and convenience store chain, announced Thursday, Aug. 31 it will celebrate truck drivers by cutting its price for diesel fuel beginning Sept. 4.
Additionally, Sheetz said it will extend a price reduction on its Unleaded 88 gasoline through Labor Day. The promotion was planned to expire today.
“Truck drivers positively impact the fabric of everyday American life,” Travis Sheetz, company president and CEO, said in a statement. “They are truly the backbone of this country and, as a company, we are committed to showing our appreciation.”

The reduction in diesel fuel prices is part of a celebration of the 35th anniversary of Truck Driver Appreciation Week. While not listing a specific price, the company said it will lower the cost of auto diesel and truck diesel offerings.
In addition, Sheetz will cut the price of diesel exhaust fluid to 99 cents a gallon at the pump.
Both price reductions will begin on Labor Day (Sept. 4) and run through Sept. 16, the company said.
Founded in Altoona, Sheetz has more than 680 locations in Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
Sheetz launched its promotion selling Unleaded 88 for $2.99 a gallon 10 days ago, with plans to end it Aug. 31. That price reduction will continue through Labor Day, the company said.
Unleaded 88 is essentially regular gasoline but with more ethanol — a kind of alcohol made with corn and other plants that’s common in fuel. The most common mix is 10% ethanol to 90% gasoline. But Unleaded 88 has 15% ethanol. The EPA says vehicles 2001 and newer can use the blend.
In addition to the promotion on diesel fuel, Sheetz will further show its appreciation of truck drivers by offering a Sheetz branded trucker hat at its 37 truck diesel locations to any new or current loyalty customers.
The company also plans to offer five different weekly deals in September and into October, redeemable for truck drivers through the Sheetz app:
- September 1-7: 99 cent energy drink from the cooler with any purchase.
- September 8-14: Free half meatball or turkey sub with any purchase.
- September 15-21: Mix and match any (2) 20 oz. sodas for $2 with any purchase.
- September 22-30: Earn 500 bonus loyalty points with any purchase.
- October 1-7: Purchase any two Powerades for $3.
“Our hope through this is to provide extended offers that will be beneficial to (truck drivers) and involve the public so we can shine a light on the hard work these drivers do,” Travis Sheetz said.
