Neighbors who live along Clover Drive in Monroeville say it’s usually a quiet area despite being so close to the Parkway. However, an accident Wednesday evening caused quite the drama for those who live on the dead-end road. Ring cameras captured the loud noise just after 9 Wednesday evening. The neighbors who shared their video with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 said the crash was so loud that it “sounded like an explosion.” “It was a big loud bang,” recalled Dylan Stevens. He added, “I pretty much knew what happened at that point, somebody came over the guardrail and down over the hill.”The truck was traveling along the Parkway East when it barreled through the guardrail and over the small, tree-covered embankment. On Thursday morning, the damage was still fresh. The guardrail was smashed into pieces in one section, while parts of the truck remained scattered throughout the high grass. Neighbors say the driver was lucky that the crash was so loud. “That was the one good thing; everybody heard it, and everybody came out to help,” said Stevens. “We were yelling to him, ‘Are you OK? Are you OK?'” recalled Stevens. He added, “Our neighbor got him out of there, and he seemed to be alright.”According to neighbors, the driver of the truck told them he believes he fell asleep at the wheel. At this point, it’s unclear if the driver will face any charges. No other injuries were reported.
