VERNON — An accident involving utility poles temporarily trapped a truck driver in the cab of the vehicle Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred in a residential neighborhood on Valerie Drive around 12:30 p.m. Monday. While traveling along the road, the truck became tangled in low-hanging power lines that wrapped around the top of the trailer.
The truck took down two utility poles and at least one transformer that began leaking into a storm drain. Fire officials asked the power company to cut off power to the area so the driver could exit the truck safely.
The driver was stuck in the cab for approximately 30 minutes.
